Mr. and Mrs. Julian Vaughan Purvis Sr. celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, with a special service of worship and renewing of their vows at Lauderdale
Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert M. Moore
officiating. A reception at the home of Hilda Farr followed the ceremony. The events were hosted by their children and grandchildren. The couple were married by the Rev. Dr. Fred Z. Browne in 1954 at the same church. They have three
children, Sabrina Williams and her husband, Rick, Suzette Landrum and her husband, Steve, and Vaughan Purvis Jr.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. Mrs. Purvis is the former Sue A. Carlton.
