Monday is the deadline for Lauderdale County residents to report property damage caused by Hurricane Ivan to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Clarence Butler, director of the Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency, said people who need to report hurricane damage should call FEMA at (800) 621-3362. Calling the FEMA toll-free telephone number is the first step in applying for federal assistance.
Before calling, FEMA officials recommend residents have the following information handy: 1) Social Security number; 2) address; 3) zip code of the damaged property; and 4) telephone numbers where they can be reached.
