Phil Campbell's Kelly Kiser has stepped down as varsity boys basketball coach after four seasons, citing time constraints and a desire to spend more time with his family.
The Franklin County Board of Education voted at last week's meeting to accept Kiser's resignation.
Kiser will continue to serve as the Bobcats' head football coach, a position he has held for six years.
Kiser has two children, a 9-year-old daughter named Sydney and an 8-year-old son named Conner, both of whom are active in youth sports.
Kiser is also taking courses through the University of West Alabama toward his administration degree, which he expects to earn in the spring of 2006.
He took six semester hours during both football and basketball season.
Kiser said that, though football is the sport he most enjoys, he will look back on his tenure as basketball coach with fond memories.
Kiser guided the Bobcats to the finals of the Class 2A, Area 16 tournament and a berth in sub-region play, where they nearly upset No. 2 Tanner.
Vina boys basketball coach Paul Humphres also resigned last week, citing health reasons.
