Tharptown wins junior softball county tourney

Jess Myrick struck out 12 batters and Laken Barnett drove in Lindsey McCluskey with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning on Saturday as Tharptown defeated Phil Campbell 1-0 to win the Franklin County junior high softball tournament.
Myrick allowed just two hits in out-dueling Phil Campbell's Kim Clark, who struck out eight in a complete game.
Barnett and Hollie Hines led Tharptown with two hits each. Keri Metcalf added a double, and Lauren Scott and Heather Hatton each had one hit.

Hollie Hines had three hits, including a pair of triples, and two RBIs to lead Tharptown on Saturday.
Jess Myrick earned the win, striking out eight and allowing no hits in six innings.
Keri Metcalf singled and drove in a run, and Heather Hatton and Lauren Scott each added one hit.

Hollie Hines and Keri Metcalf added two hits for Tharptown, and Heather Hatton doubled and drove in two runs.
Meagan Tverberg had a single and an RBI, and Lauren Scott and Laken Barnett each added one hit.

Hollie Hines was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, and Lauren Scott doubled and drove in two runs.
Laken Barnett added a double, and Lindsey McCluskey singled and drove in a run.
Myrick, Heather Hatton and Meagan Tverberg each had one hit.
