NWSCC celebrates 'Young Child Week'
Jonathan Willis FCT Staff Writer
The hallways at Northwest-Shoals Community College got a new look this week.
Children in the Head Start program, a federally funded preschool program housed on the Phil Campbell campus, drew and painted pictures during Young Child week.
The Week of the Young Child program was designed by the Alabama Partnership for Children to promote early learning.
The week-long celebration promotes high quality early learning for all children and honors those parents and teachers who care for children during their formative years.
Studies show that the years from birth to age five are a crucial stage for learning and lays the foundation for children's success in school and beyond. The Head Start program at NW-SCC is free to those who qualify and also serves children with special needs. Applications for the fall are currently being accepted. For more information, call 331-6203.
