East Franklin Junior High School held their annual fall carnival Thursday, Oct. 5.
The Carnival, the school's only school wide fundraiser, raked in about $8,500 profit for the school, Gary Harris, principle, said.
"In the past, we have had as much as $16,000 raised," Harris said.
This year's numbers were down a little from the past years' carnivals, but the school still had a good turn out with 300 people attending.
"We are small school, with only 184 students, but we have good community support," Harris said.
The school sold tickets for a TV and DVD player, which brought in $4,500 for the school, Harris said.
There were games galore at the carnival. Putt, Putt Golf, the Ducky Game, Dart Balloons, cake walk and Bingo are just a few of the games that entertained the community. Prizes for Bingo were donated by area businesses in Phil Campbell, Haleyville, Bear Creek and Russellville, Harris said.
"Bingo is our biggest draw [at the carnival]; we always have lots of people play bingo," Harris said.
Harris and the students at EFJHS would like to thank everyone who volunteered, donated an item, or just came to the carnival. Your support is greatly appreciated, Harris said.
The proceeds from Thursday's event will go into the school's general fund to help cover operational costs and materials, Harris said.
