Dorothy Ilene Bates, age 55, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006.
Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her sons, Trace Ray Scott and Christopher Mitchell; and her father, George Kilpatrick.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Bennie Terry officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mrs. Bates is survived by a son, Tim Scott and wife Shelaine, of Leighton; a daughter, Christy Lawson of Phil Campbell; her mother, Edith Kilpatrick of Littleville; four grandchildren, Erick Scott, Daniel Scott, Devin Lawson and Drake Lawson; a sister, Louise Green of Barton; two brothers, Thomas Kilpatrick and wife Judy, of Littleville, and Alton Kilpatrick of Littleville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville assisted the family.
Ronald Howard Cummings

Ronald Howard Cummings, age 50, of Phil Campbell, passed away Friday, October 20, 2006.
Mr. Cummings was preceded in death by his father, William Howard Cummings, and mother, Catherine May Cummings; his grandparents, Ed and Lona May, and William and Annie Cummings; and a very special great-aunt, Pearl Cummings.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Mountain View Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Cummings officiating. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Franks, Bradley Franks, Garrick McGee, Ronnie O'Kelly, Odell May and Burrin Bell.
Mr. Cummings is survived by a daughter, Kristy Burroughs; a granddaughter, Kimberly Burroughs; three sisters, Janice Osborn, Debra O'Neal and Charlotte Bradford; two special aunts, Shelia Pinkard and Nellie Whitaker; and three special uncles, Thomas May, Odell May and Aummuel Whitaker; nine nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews.
Spry Chapel assisted the family.
Sarah Lorraine King Grissom

Sarah Lorraine King Grissom, age 76, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006, at Shoals Hospital.
Mrs. Grissom was a native of Franklin County but had lived in Muscle Shoals for the past several years. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. She was retired from the Viking Corporation, where she was president and general manager with 23 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alice King; and two sisters, Louise Stiles and husband Harold, and Grace Johnston.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at Franklin Memory Gardens in Russellville. Interment will follow.
Mrs. Grissom is survived by her husband, Charles R. Grissom; a daughter, Freda G. Hipp and husband Larry M. Hipp, of Adamsville; a grandson, Charles H. Hipp and wife Lori, of Birmingham; a great-granddaughter, Meagan Elise Hipp of Birmingham; a sister, Sue Ownings of Spruce Pine; and several nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dr. Kelly, Dr. Matthews and the ICU staff of Shoals Hospital.

Thelma Irene Malone

Thelma Irene Malone, age 83, of Mt. Hope, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at Falkville Health Care.
Mrs. Malone was born in Lawrence County on December 4, 1922. She was formerly employed on the conveyor line at Quaker Oats Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Malone; and her parents, James Luther Smith and Minnie Mae Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2006, at Moulton Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Roger Jacobs and Rev. Neal Fowler officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Methodist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Harville, Jimmy Smith, Tim Hill, Christopher Hill, Gary Malone and Ted Allen Young, II.
Mrs. Malone is survived by a daughter, Betty Harville of Falkville; two step-daughters, Karen Ann Hill of Rogersville and Margie Carolyn Rae of Muscle Shoals; a brother, Hollis Smith of Littleville; two sisters, Bertha Murphy of Haleyville and Barbara Sullivan of Trinity; two grandsons; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
