The Russellville man believed to be responsible for a home invasion and the life threatening injuries to a Russellville senior citizen is in police custody.
Joshua Todd Tunell, 28, of 501 E. Lauderdale Ave., Russellville, was arrested in West Memphis, Ark. Thursday night. Russellville Police escorted him back to Alabama Friday, Chris Hargett, Russellville Police Chief, said. Tunell is being charged with Attempted Murder 1st, Burglary 1st, and Theft of Property 1st, Hargett added.
Tunell allegedly forced his way into the home of Pauline White, 77, of Russellville, Wednesday morning. White remains in critical condition at Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
"There has been really no change in Ms. White's condition from Thursday," Hargett said. "If White dies [as a result of her injuries], the charges will be upgraded to murder."
Tunell is also allegedly responsible for an unsuccessful robbery of a convenience store customer in the Shoals area, and a burglary of a nearby home, Hargett said.
