PHIL CAMPBELL – A Phil Campbell resident was arrested Saturday on charges of discharging a firearm and causing extensive property damage.
Police Chief Merrell Potter said James Anthony McCulloch, 43, of Phil Campbell, was arrested after a firing several shots near 3435 Broad Street.
"The subject was intoxicated and got in a rage over some family troubles," Potter said, "and he just starting shooting."
Potter said after the shooting, McCulloch fled to his home on Mayhall Street where he was apprehended without incident.
No one was injured in the incident but Potter said damage was caused to a building downtown and the Board of Education's Mobile Health Unit.
McCulloch is charged with shooting into an unoccupied vehicle, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
Potter said authorities are still evaluating the amount of damage done to the buildings and assigning a dollar amount.
He was out of jail Monday under a $10,000 bond.
