J.L. Pitt, age 88, formerly of Lawrence County, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 4, 2006.
Mr. Pitt was very blessed to stay at home with the loving care of his wife, Pauline, and his wonderful Southern Care Hospice nurses, Ann Mills, Ruby Sheffield, Rita Dixon and Teresa Smith.
Mr. Pitt was born May 25, 1918, one child of nine to Oscar and Lillie Mae Pitt. He survived World War II and the Great Depression. He was a longtime resident of Russellville and a retireee of Ford Motor Company. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fran Pitt; his parents, Paul Oscar Pitt and Lillie May Sivley Pitt; and three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with longtime friend Estes Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Morris Chapel Cemetery near his famly in Moulton.
Mr. Pitt is survived by his loving wife, Pauline Yielding Pitt; one daughter, Mary Dianne Potts of Haleyville; two brothers, Clinton Pitt of Muscle Shoals and Neil Pitt of Decatur; two sisters, Willodene Robinson and Magadaline Mitchell, both of Decatur; two granddaughters, Bethany Cagle and Stephanie Killen; five great-grandchildren, L.G. Cagle, Anna Cagle, Kayla Cagle, Kristen Potts and Savannah Hines; and several nieces and nephews.
