Trapp leads Golden Tigers past Baldwin County

Cory Trapp made five three-pointers and finished with 21 points on Wednesday as Russellville bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 65-62 win over Baldwin County in the first round of the Brewer Christmas Tournament.
Siran Winston, Terence Smith and Justin Thorne each added eight points for the Golden Tigers (7-1), who advanced to face Brewer in Thursday night's semifinals.
Russellville led Wednesday's game by 12 at the half before Baldwin County out-scored the Golden Tigers 21-14 in the third quarter to get within five. The Golden Tigers then held on to win in the fourth quarter.
Jermaine Bates had seven points for Russellville, and Nate Dunstan added five. Andy Pounders and Caleb Mitchell each had four.

Tanner Maddox led the Bobcats (7-7) with 19 points in Thursday's first-round loss at the Muscle Shoals Christmas Tournament.
Phil Campbell trailed just 47-40 with 30 seconds left in the third quarter before East Lawrence pulled away. The Eagles out-scored the Bobcats 21-12 in the fourth quarter.
The game was tied 14-14 midway through the second quarter before East Lawrence went on a 12-0 run. Maddox made one of his five three-pointers on the night to stem the tide, but the Eagles still led 35-23 at the half.
Jay Steward finished with 11 points for Phil Campbell, and Brett Thomas added seven.
The Eagles finished the night 25-of-34 from the foul line.
Phil Campbell will play a consolation game today at 3 p.m.
