Red Devils remain hot

B.J. Beard scored 21 points and Morgan McCarley added 19 on Friday as the Vina boys continued their strong play of late with an 80-51 win over Tharptown.
The Red Devils, who won for the fourth time in six games, led 21-10 after one quarter and 42-23 at the half.
"Tonight was by far the best we've shot the ball all year," Vina coach Sonny Tibbs said. "We're not turning the ball over as much the last few games, and our guards have been playing with a lot more consistency."
Beard made four threes on the night, and McCarley had three.
Brent Townsend and Anthony Hester each added eight points for Vina (6-11).
Manny Ricardo led Tharptown with 14 points, and Tyler Cagle had 13.

Caleb Thompson scored 21 points on Thursday to lead Phil Campbell past the Bears.
Brett Thomas and Jonathan Dill each added seven points for the Bobcats (8-9), who led 14-7 after one quarter and 23-15 at the half.

Autumn Hatton led the Lady Wildcats with 19 points in Friday's win.
Laken Barnett added nine points for Tharptown (10-8).
Heather Holland had 17 points to lead Vina, and LeShe McGee added 15.

Chasity Morgan made six three-pointers and scored 28 points on Thursday as the Lady Bobcats won at home.
Caitlin Stancil added 16 points for Phil Campbell (7-10), which led 24-5 lead after one quarter.
Shelly Cooper added 11 points for the Lady Bobcats.
