Safeplace and the Franklin County Domestic Violence Coalition, in conjunction with HON Company, will host the 2007 Walk-A-Mile For A Child.
The dates for this year's Walk-A-Mile are Friday and Saturday, March 30-31 from 10 a.m. to noon.
"The main purpose for this event is to inform the community about Safeplace and how to prevent child abuse and domestic violence," Michelle Garner of Safeplace, Inc., said.
Each of the six counties serviced by Safeplace, Inc. are annual participants in the event, which began five years ago.
Last year, the event raised $32,000 overall.
"The proceeds from the event go to help ensure the future of Safeplace and its child abuse and domestic violence prevention programs," Garner said.
The walk follows the victim's path through different agencies and businesses that partner together to help ensure safety, hope and healing for the children served.
The locations include hospitals, police stations, courthouses, churches, city parks and the Department of Human Resources, according to Safeplace material.
There are different ways to support the walk including sponsorship, getting a team, hanging posters about the event in your business and encouraging employee participation, Suzanne Swims, Safeplace Inc., said.
