Franklin County Idol talent competition to benefit Roxy

The Franklin County Arts and Humanities Association will host a talent competition to benefit the Roxy Theater next week.
Franklin County Idol talent competition will hold preliminary competition Tuesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Feb. 1, with the final competition to be held Saturday, Feb. 3, Suzie Malone, Franklin County Arts and Humanities president, said.
The preliminary competition will begin at 6:30 each evening and the final competition will begin at 7 p.m. All performances will held at the Roxy Theater.
Each contestant will perform one song of his or her choice. Group performances will not be permitted in the competition, Malone said.
"This is the first year for the Franklin County Idol, but we hope that it becomes an annual event," Malone said.
The Entry fee is $25 per person. The deadline for entry is today. Applications must be received at the radio station, located at 113 Washington Ave. NW in Russellville, by today. All checks should be made payable to the Franklin County Idol.
The winner for each division will receive a prize package worth over $500, including $200 in cash.
Other items in the package include studio recording time, gifts from local merchants and the opportunity to perform as the opening act for future bookings at the Roxy Theater.
Admission to the event is $5 per night or $10 for all three nights.
