Patrick Cochran scored 16 points to lead Vina on Thursday, but it wasn't enough as the Red Devils fell to Class 1A No. 10 Phillips 69-53 on senior night.
Tony Jennings and Anthony Hester each added 10 points for Vina, which trailed 32-21 at the half. The visiting Bears out-scored the Devils 18-8 in the third quarter to put the game away.
Jon Stults led Phillips (20-6) with 24 points.
Vina will face Waterloo on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Class 1A, Area 16 Tournament at Shoals Christian School.
The Cougars won both games against Vina during the regular season, but the last meeting was nearly two months ago on December 8.
"Most everybody was playing zone against us early in the year, and then Waterloo came out and played us man-to-man," Vina coach Sonny Tibbs said. "I think our kids freaked out a little. Now, most teams have been playing man against us lately, so we're much more familiar with it. Hopefully we'll handle it a little better this time and not turn the ball over so much."
