RHS boys start strong with rout of Florence

The Russellville boys tennis team opened its season in strong fashion on Monday, cruising to a 9-0 win over Florence.
T.J. Drake led the way for the Golden Tigers (1-0) with a 10-6 win over Phil Claiborne at No. 1 singles. Kiefer Rea outlasted Tyler Creamer 11-9 at No. 2 singles, and Tyler Malone earned a 10-6 victory over Garrett Odenwelder at No. 3.
Anthony Turner beat Cole Jacobs 10-4 at No. 4 singles, and John Tyler Hardin scored a 10-6 win over Drew Bullard at No. 5. Jacob Hill defeated Addison Osborn 10-7 at No. 6 singles.
Russellville also won all three doubles matches. Drake and Hill defeated Claiborne and Creamer 11-9 at No. 1, and Rea and Malone earned a 10-4 win over Odenwelder and Bullard at No. 2. Turner and Hardin cruised to a 10-2 win over Jacobs and Osborn at No. 3.
On the girls side, Florence defeated Russellville 8-1. An 11-9 victory by Calli Davis over Amy Cook at No. 2 singles was Russellville's only win.
Russellville was scheduled to return to action on Tuesday at home against Brooks.
