MOBILE – University of Mobile student James Berrian of Phil Campbell was a finalist in the Second Year College Men category at the 2007 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Student Auditions for Alabama. The auditions were held Feb. 23-24 in Birmingham.
Berrian, a music education major, is the son of Jim and Gina Berrian.
He is a 2005 graduate of Phillips High School and a member of Hines Memorial Baptist Church.
Each year, students across Alabama, Florida and Georgia attend Student Auditions sponsored by the NATS Southeastern region.
The competitions offer students of NATS members encouragement toward the preparation of an appropriate repertoire, stimulation toward vocal and musical growth, the opportunity to sing before qualified and impartial judges to receive careful and constructive criticism, and public recognition of musical talent and vocal achievement.
The University of Mobile is a private university affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention. Over 1,600 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Christian Studies, School of Education, School of Nursing, Center for Performing Arts and Center for Adult Programs.
