Russellville High School's yearbook staff recently received the Honorable Mention Award of Excellence from a Dallas-based publishing company.
Taylor Publishing notified the staff of their award in early February and they were recognized at a recent board of education meeting.
RHS's yearbook will be included in Taylor Publishing's 2007 "Yearbook Yearbook," an annual publication that showcases yearbook designs and trends, according to the company's press release.
"The judges come from different parts of the nation and represent varied school sizes," Marilyn Scoggins, editor of Yearbook Yearbook, said.
The yearbooks published by Taylor for the 2006 school year were evaluated in one or more of the following areas: cover design, theme development, and layout design.
According to the release, Taylor names only the top 10 percent of the yearbook staffs with an honorable mention recognition.
"The competition gets tougher each year because staffs are doing an excellent job of creating great, student-oriented yearbooks," Scoggins added.
The editor for RHS's 2006 yearbook was Lauren Terry, and the theme for the book was Through the Eyes of Tiger.
The yearbook staff usually consists of 15 members, Russellville yearbook sponsor Susie Malone said.
"We applaud these staffs for their work and support their efforts in scholastic journalism," marketing manager Mike Taylor said.
Taylor Publishing operates a facility in El Paso, Texas, and is a major publisher of yearbooks nationwide. The company also provides training, technical support and printing services to elementary school, middle school, high school and college yearbook staffs.
