Bessie L. Bray, age 90, of Phil Campbell, passed away Monday, March 12, 2007.
Mrs. Bray was a native of Franklin County and a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Josie Garrison; her husband of 66 years, Benjamin Franklin Bray; and four brothers, Marvin, Roy, Cliff and Oscar (Buster) Garrison.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Motes and Bro. John McCullar officiating. Interment will be in Gray Rock Cemetery in Phil Campbell.
Mrs. Bray is survived by two sons, James Bray and wife Nina, of Phil Campbell, and Bill Bray and wife Mary, of Phil Campbell; a daughter, Mae Carney of Wheatfield, IN; a sister, Velmar Pierce of Tucker, GA; two brothers, Bud Garrison and wife Etta, of Russellville, and Veto Garrison of Phil Campbell; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.

Charles L. Montgomery

Charles "Charlie" L. Montgomery, age 74, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, March 12, 2007, with his family by his side.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He worked and retired from Marley Flexco (Robbins Tire &Rubber) in Tuscumbia. After retiring, Mr. Montgomery moved to Jasper, TN, where he enjoyed gardening, yard work and his beloved pet, Katie. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his three sons and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wredge and Carrie Montgomery; two brothers, Louis Montgomery and Herman Montgomery; and two sisters, Eva Dell Green and Estelle Skidmore.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Interment will be in Tharptown Cemetery.
Mr. Montgomery's life and memory will forever be cherished by his survivors, including three sons, Tony Montgomery and wife Yasmin, of Sheffield, James Montgomery and wife Pam, of Jasper, TN, and David Montgomery and wife Beth, of McDonough, GA; three sisters, Minnie Bell McGee, Edna Montgomery, and Bonnie Blanton and husband J.B.; two brothers, Robert Montgomery and John Montgomery; three grandchildren, Amber, Brock and Kayla; and three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Cameron and Hannah.
Spry Chapel assisted the family.
William Watson Garrett

William Watson Garrett, age 72, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Helen Keller Hosital.
Mr. Garrett was a native of Hodges but lived most of his life in Russellville. He was a member of Jonesboro Missionary Baptist Church. He was retired from Reynolds Metals Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Garrett; three sisters, Gertrude Garrett, Claudia Blackburn and Wilma Searcy; and two brothers, John Garrett and Royce Garrett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Chad Beck and A.J. Stepp officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife, Maggie Jean Garrett; two children, Donna Jean Speakman of Cullman, and Larry Garrett and wife Rhonda, of Russellville; a brother, James Garrett of Russellville; two sisters, Beulah Wilson of Russellville and Lucille Knight of Haleyville; three grandchildren, Russell Garrett, Lee Speakman and Courtney Childers; and several nieces and nephews.

Myrtle Ernesteen Poores

Myrtle Ernesteen Poores, age 84, of Red Bay, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at her son's residence in Tacoma, WA.
Mrs. Poores was born November 27, 1922 in Golden, MS, to Jessie and Mary Woodruff Parker. She was an Environmental Specialist for the Red Bay Hospital for 15 years and was a member of Cornerstone Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Poores, Sr.; two sons, Coleman E. Poores and Walker "Jim" Poores; one daughter, Staff Sargent Julie Bartelt; one grandson, Ricky Poores; one step-grandson, Jonathan O. Hurley; and her parents.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2007, at Cornerstone Church of God with Bro. Jerry Glen and Rev. Emmanuel Jackson officiating. Interment was in Joel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Mrs. Poores is survived by two daughters, Theanzy Hargett and husband Lavone, of Red Bay, and Ernestine Hurley and husband Randy L., of Vina; two sons, Rev. William "Bill" Poores of Tacoma, WA, and Charles "Chuck" Poores, Sr. of Florence; eleven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
