Cartee sworn in on PC council

PHIL CAMPBELL – The Phil Campbell City Council appointed a new member to the council during their regular meeting on Tuesday night.
James O. Cartee Jr. replaced outgoing council member Kerry Cooper, who moved out of his district. Circuit Judge Terry Dempsey swore in Cartee at the meeting.
The council also discussed the progress of the bidding on the new city pool.
The council considered bids from OPM Baker Concrete of Hackleburg and ICI Construction in Florida. The bid was awarded to OPM Baker Concrete of Hackleburg for $108,000.
The city pool has been closed for the past two summers, and the council plans to have the new pool open by the summer.
Certified Public Accountant Don Wallace of Tuscaloosa presented the annual audit to the council. The audit was tabled until the next council meeting pending minor revisions.
The council also voted to take bids for copiers to replace the ones currently in use at city hall. The Council approved a motion to place council member Danny Brown in charge of accepting bids for the copiers.
The Council also approved a motion to fix the roof over city hall, which currently has a leak.
The council approved a bid from Caldwell Roofing for $300 to fix the leak.
