A salute to our local mothers

Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, "The real religion of the world comes from women much more than from men – from mothers most of all, who carry the key of our souls in their bosoms."
Today has been set aside to honor our mothers and the mother figures in our lives.
A strong family is one of the single most important things to emotional health, and most often at the center of the family machine is the hard working mother.
The role of mothers has evolved quite a bit in the last 50 years.
Stay-at-home mothers are now the bread winners of many families.
The "June Cleaver" woman is not as familiar as it once was as the world has shifted to the equal and dual responsibilities of husbands and wives.
While the mold for the "typical" mother has been broken for many years, that has not lessened the importance of the mother's role in the family.
We hope you will use today, Mother's Day, to spend some time with your mother or mother figure.
Those of us who are fortunate enough to have living grandmothers are equally if not more blessed.
We hope you have planned to tell the women in your life who helped you become who you are – and still care about who you're becoming – exactly how you feel about them.
Every minute that slips past is a minute you'll never have again.
Don't look back on that minute and wish you had told your mother, grandmother or mother figure how much you love her. You've got all today to tell her. Luckily today is a day where that's all your supposed to do.
