Local high school football teams conclude spring practice season tonight with jamboree games.
Russellville, the defending Region 8 champion, and Colbert County – two of the most successful football programs in the state – were originally scheduled to play each other, but the game was canceled due to a mutual decision, according to Russellville coach Doug Goodwin.
Instead, his team plays an intrasquad game at 7 p.m. at Golden Tigers Stadium.
Russellville went 11-2 last season and lost to J.O. Johnson in the third round of the 5A playoffs.
Red Bay hosts Lauderdale County and Lexington at 7 p.m. at Fred G. Bostick Stadium.
The Tigers, led by Dale Jeffreys, finished 6-6 in 2006, and fell to an undefeated Fyffe team in the second round of the 2A playoffs.
Kaley Kiser's Phil Campbell squad travels to South Lamar, and Vina, coached by Bill Smith, plays at Phillips. Both games kick off at 6 p.m.
