The Russellville Municipal Airport will host an Open House next month in hopes to educate the community about the services offered by the airport.
"We are here to enhance industrial development by providing services for businesses visiting Russellville and Franklin County," Harry Mattox, airport manager, said.
The Open House is scheduled on Sunday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The airport will host several visiting airplanes on that day so that the community can see different types of aircraft used throughout history.
"We are trying to reserve several different types of planes including planes used for military training," Mattox said.
One of the guest planes will be a biplane, which will be giving plane rides during the day. Vintage Air Tours will be on hand to provide air tours on the biplane, Mattox said.
"Biplane rides will cost $85 for two people, which will go to Vintage Tours," Mattox said.
The Open House will provide the community with the opportunity to see the improvements made at the Russellville Municipal Airport, and showcase the services offered by the airport, which includes flight instructions, and sightseeing tours.
Mattox said that the airport board could decide to host an Open House every year to promote the importance of having a good airport facility in the county.
"We have not held an Open House since we reopened in 2004," Mattox said.
