Mae Thorne, 75, of Russellville, died Saturday June 2, 2007. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Akins Funeral Home Chapel. Officiate was Bro. Keith Barnett. Burial followed at Franklin Memory Gardens.
She was a native of Water Valley, Mississippi and was a former resident of Russellville. She was a member of North Highland Church of Christ. Her husband, Joe Thorne; her parents, Leroy and Carrie Stewart; brothers, L.C. Stewart and J.R. Stewart, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Wilson Thorne (Lisa), of Russellville; a daughter Carrie Hovater (Danny), of Florence; a sister, Faye Thorne, of Russellville; a brother, Wayne Stewart, of Panama City Beach, Florida; and grandchildren, Kayla Thorne, Tiffany Thorne, Joshua Thorne, Alisha Hovater and Maggie Hovater.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Kelly and the staff at Russellville Health Care for taking such great care of our mother and grandmother.

Patricia Earle Messer, 69, of Phil Campbell, Monday June 4, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church in Phil Campbell. Bro. Sammy Taylor and Bro. Jason Vinson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Daniel Crabtree, Jeremy Crabtree, Jonathan Haggard, Christopher Haggard, Tray Maynor, Blake Maynor, Isaiah Messer, and Jamie Glass. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery.
She was a native of Winston County and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Phil Campbell. Her parents, Sam and Oraley Vernon; daughter, Sharie Kay Messer; and sister, Hazel West preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Messer; children, Martha Crabtree, of Scottsboro, Margaret Haggard, of Athens, Wallace Messer, of West Limestone, and Mary Belvin, of Hollytree; sister, June Glass; and 10 grandchildren.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Kenneth Ray Snow

Kenneth Ray Snow, 35, of Russellville, died Sunday June 3, 2007.
Funeral services were held Monday at Spry Memorial Chapel. Bro. Andy Cansler officiated. Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda Snow; sons, Cory Ray Snow, and Dylan Snow; daughter, Hannah Lindsey Snow; parents, Kenneth Ray Snow Sr. and Katherine Snow; brothers, Ricky Gene Snow, and Billy Joe Snow; and sister, Christina Snow, all of Russellville.

Roy Edward Carter, 77, of Vina, died Monday June 4, 2007.
The visitation will be held today from 6-8 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. The 2 p.m. funeral service will be held on Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Dempsey (Five Points) Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Loucille Keller Carter; daughters, Deborah White, Martha Long, Kathie Chandler, Reba Carter, and Barbara Mitchell; 8 grandchildren, Michael White, Ricky White, Mark White, Belinda Orrick, Nathaniel Long, Ronnie Chandler, Sherri Chandler, and Eddie Mitchell; 7 great-grandchildren; and three nieces and nephews.

Evie Lee Stone Whitehead

Evie Lee Stone Whitehead, 92, of Tuscumbia, died Monday June 4, 2007.
The visitation will be held today at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville from 9-10:30 a.m. The 11 a.m. graveside service will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery with Bro. Jerome Sherrill officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dojuanna Jo Strange (Edward); sons, Billy Wayne Whitehead (Cheryl), Frank Whitehead (Joyce), Tony Whitehead (Bernice), and Danny Whitehead (Elene); 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Baptist Church and a retired LPN. We want to thank all the staff at Sunbridge Rehab and Nursing of the Shoals, Tuscumbia and Good Samaritan Hospice for the wonderful care given to mother.
