A Russellville man is once again behind bars after escaping from the Franklin County Jail Monday morning.
Steven Ray Burfield, Jr., 20, of 125 Mishuel Lane in Russellville, was awaiting a hearing on a probation violation when he escaped from the Franklin County Jail early Monday morning, Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott said.
"Burfield turned himself in Monday night," Plott said.
Plott said Burfield was housed in the dome outside the jail but inside the fence, because he was a nonviolent offender.
Plott added that Burfield apparently made his way out of the dome by prying open a skylight and crawling over the fence.
Burfield has been charged with second-degree escape, which is a Class C felony.
According to the Alabama Criminal, a Class C felony is a punishable with one year and one day to 10 years in prison upon conviction.
