Red Bay wraps up Lady Tiger Camp

RED BAY – The Lady Tiger Basketball Camp capped a four-day camp for elementary and junior high girls' basketball players yesterday at the Red Bay High School gym.
Longtime Red Bay girls' coach Donnie Roberts and some of his players taught basic fundamentals and drills. The Red Bay varsity girls' basketball program has won three state titles, and the Lady Tigers finished 20-10 last season and advanced to the sub-region in the state playoffs.
The camp was divided into morning sessions for junior high players and afternoon sessions for elementary players.
In the junior high session, Lauren Pacetti (first) and Mariah Horton (runner-up) won the free throw shooting contest. Morgan McKinney (first) defeated Shantell Nichols (runner-up) in the 1-on-1 finals and Horton (first) beat McKinney (runner-up) to win the hot shooting category.
In the elementary session, Elizabeth Wooten beat Kasey Sparks to win 1-on-1; Sparks outshot Carlee Berry to win the hot shot award; Wooten edged out Micaela Black in free throw shooting; and Tori Melson, Autumn Higginbotham, Breana Jacobs, Sparks and Allie Kennedy won the 5-on-5 game.
