Northwest-Shoals Community College is giving local men and women another chance to get that high school education they may not have finished.
Free Adult Education classes will be offered at the Reedtown Back to Basics Life Skills Center, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Classes are free and open to anyone 16 years of age and older who is not enrolled in school.
The Phil Campbell Adult Education classes will be held at Northwest-Shoals Community College, Monday through Wednesday 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Bruce Sweeney, Director of the Adult Education Program at Northwest-Shoals Community College said the classes are geared toward the individuals and are designed to help the students pass the GED.
"Studies show that 80-percent or more of the students who take and pass this class will go on to pass the GED," he said, "as opposed to 30 percent pass rate for those who just go on to take the test."
On average, Sweeney said it takes about 10 weeks for a student to absorb and pass all the preparatory work.
