A Russellville man indicted on manslaughter charges in Franklin County in May was recently located in the Mobile County Jail.
Adam Ray Echols, 39, of 270 Fairview Circle in Russellville, was indicted for manslaughter, second-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, distribution of a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and possession of a controlled substance, Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott said.
Echols allegedly injected a family member with methamphetamine causing her death in July 2006. The case was presented to the grand jury once an autopsy on the victim had been completed.
After the grand jury indictment, Echols was found in Mobile County Jail, where he was being held on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance.
"Once the charges in Mobile are resolved or Echols makes bail there, he will be returned to Franklin County to face charges here," Plott said.
Plott added there has been another person charged with the manslaughter case. Christina Teat, 26, of 270 Fairview Road in Russellville, was charged with conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
"Ms. Teat is charged with providing the drugs to Echols, which caused the victim's death," Plott said.
Teat is currently serving a nine-month jail sentence in the Franklin County Jail on a child endangerment conviction.
