Support the Handy Fest

By Staff
One of the Shoals area's various festivals, the W.C. Handy Music Festival, is taking place this week, through Monday, July 28. This is the 26th year of the festival.
For the past few years, Franklin County residents have been provided an opportunity to take part in this cultural event through the Franklin County Arts and Humanities Council. On Friday night, "An Evening at the Roxy" will take place in the historic Roxy Theater in downtown Russellville.
The St. Paul Gospel Choir, along with several other soloists, will be performing music in the style of gospel, blues and jazz to commemorate the musical stylings of Handy, a Shoals native.
We encourage Franklin County residents to spend Friday night celebrating the music of W.C. Handy. Bring friends and family out to spend the evening enjoying music by talented performers.
The Evening at the Roxy has gained support from many local businesses. We hope that Franklin County residents will show support for their local talent and the festival.
Swamp John's will be providing plates for $8 at the venue. Admission to the concert is $5.
Musical talent will be showcased in various locations throughout the Shoals this week and weekend during the festival. This is an opportunity to participate in a regional activity that is ever-growing and brings plenty of revenue to the area each July.
