Outback run raises money for program

SHEFFIELD – The seventh annual Outback Survivor 5K &1-Mile Fun Run benefiting the Northwest Alabama Junior Miss Program will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4.
Registration at Outback Steakhouse in Sheffield is from 6:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., with the 5K race beginning at 8 a.m.
The pre-registration fee is $12 for the 5K and $8 for the one-mile run, mailed by July 30. Registration for day of the race is $15 for the 5K, and $10 for the one-mile run). All registered participants will receive a T-shirt.
Both races are certified, and the course runs near Outback Steakhouse. This is a fast course with one hill with splits for each mile. Water will be available on the course. Start and finish line will be operated by the Shoals TRAC. Refreshments, courtesy of local businesses, will be available.
There will be awards for both courses. In the 5K, awards will be given to the following: Overall Male Top 3, Overall Female Top 3, 1st Overall Master's Male, 1st Overall Master's Female, Survivor Award for Oldest Male, and Survivor Award for Oldest Female.
Awards are given to the Top 3 Male and Female finishers in the following age groups: 0-14 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 0-54, 55-59, 60-64 and 65-over. In the one-mile run, trophies will be awarded to male and female runners ages 6-under, 7-9 and 10-13.
