RHS football falls to TCHS, Central
NORTHPORT – The Russellville High School football team fell to Central-Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa County in jamboree road action Friday night.
The Golden Tigers lost 12-7 to Central-Tuscaloosa in two quarters of play. In the next game, 6A Tuscaloosa County beat Russellville 28-0.
RHS volleyball picks up two wins
The Russellville High School varsity volleyball team opened its season with two wins against Lauderdale County teams.
The Golden Tigers dropped their first game, 18-25, at Wilson on Aug. 23, but bounced back to win the match by sweeping the second and third games, 25-22 and 25-21.
Russellville returned to action Aug. 25 and downed Mars Hill Bible School in straight games, 25-8 and 25-17.
The Golden Tigers tip off 5:30 p.m. Monday at Florence High School and 5 p.m. Tuesday at Muscle Shoals.
Stadium grand opening
Aug. 31
THARPTOWN – The Tharptown Booster Club invites the community to its official stadium opening on Friday, August 31 at Tharptown High School. There will be special events and giveaways are planned throughout the evening.
Wimberley benefit bass tournament
Sept. 8
BEAR CREEK – An open bass tournament to benefit Keagen Rose Wimberley, who was born with a bone birth defect, wlll be held Saturday, Sept. 8 at Twin Forks Ramp on Upper Bear Lakes from safe light until 3 p.m. Prizes will be given out for first ($1500) through fourth place. Cost to register is $60 per two-person boat, and entrants may register at the event. For more information, contact Joey Wemberley at (205) 993-5856.
Founder's Fest 5K, 1-Mile Run/Walk
Sept. 15
RED BAY – The annual Red Bay Founder's Fest 5K and 1-Mile is Saturday, Sept. 15. The 5K runs begins at 9 a.m. and the 1-mile run/walk starts at 9:45 a.m. The race is sponsored by Red Bay Wellcare, and the top three finishers in each division will receive an award. Travel baseball team sign-ups
Baseball players are needed for a new 9-and-under travel team for this fall. The team will also play next spring and summer. If interested, contact Greg Pierce at 460-1018.
RHS Booster Club membership drive
