Bear Creek Education Center will host the annual Women in the Outdoors Sept. 15-16.
Bear Creek Education Center Director Patrick Shremshock said this is the fourth year for the event, and it is sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation.
The event is geared toward getting women out in the great outdoors.
"We have a lot of outdoor programming geared toward men out there, but there isn't a lot for a woman," Shremshock said.
He added that the two-day event is for women of all walks of life, not just the for women who love the outdoors.
"We have something for everyone, even if you are not what they call outdoorsy," Shremshock said.
He added that the program has had as many as 22 women at the event, and many of them are repeat visitors.
"Most of the women signed up right now were here last year, and that's what it is all about," Shremshock said.
The following classes are offered as part of the event: high ropes, which is an obstacle course in the air, hiking, archery, rappelling, shot gunning, outdoor photography, scrap booking, fishing, canoeing and many more courses.
"No one is required to do everything," Shremshock said. "But, the goal is to offer women experiences they have not had before, and a lot of times, they enjoy their new activity."
The cost to attend the two-day retreat is $75 and this fee includes all meals, lodging, equipment, training supplies, and one year membership to the Women in the Outdoors program. Space is limited and are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
