Vina mayor going the extra mile for knowledge

By Staff
Vina mayor D.W. Franklin recently earned the professional designation of Advanced Certified Municipal Official.
Franklin completed 40 credit hours of training conducted or endorsed by the Alabama League of Municipalities to receive this designation.
He was recognized for his accomplishment at the graduation ceremonies held in Montgomery in August.
Franklin is the only representative from Vina to participate in the training offered to municipal officials.
Franklin said the plaque he received for his accomplishment represents about four years of work and training.
Four years of work is the equivalent of graduating college.
We realize that college courses are required almost daily, but it takes a tremendous amount of commitment and dedication to stick with a program spread over four years.
Franklin's dedication to his office and the people he serves is unparalleled.
The people of Vina should be proud of their mayor for sticking with his office outside the council meeting and complaints.
The residents of Vina are lucky to have a mayor willing to dedicate his personal time to this educational process and are also lucky to have a council that supports him in his continuing quest for experience.
