Tanner defeats PC 47-22

PHIL CAMPBELL – Senior receiver Caleb Thompson had a night to remember Friday against Tanner, but it wasn't enough as the Rattlers defeated Phil Campbell 47-22 in a Class 2A, Region 8 matchup.
Thompson caught nine passes for 154 yard from senior quarterback Jonathon Dill, who finished 18-of-37 for a season-high 264 yards.
Dill found Thompson for two long completions and scored from the 2-yard line to put Phil Campbell 7-0 in teh first quarter.
After three straight rushing touchdowns from Tanner, the Phil Campbell (0-4, 0-3) answered when Dill found Pablo Santiago for a 15-yard touchdown with 2:19 left in the first half.
Two plays later, the Rattlers (3-1, 2-1) scored again on a 17-yard run by Derrick Malone to go ahead 28-14 at halftime.
In the second half, Malone added a 1-yard run to put Tanner ahead 35-14 with 4:52 left in the third quarter.
Dill scored from the 1-yard line and found Thompson for the two-point converson to make the score 35-22.
Dominque Randolph and Jeremy Turner-Malone added two more scoring runs for the Rattlers for the 47-22 final score.
Defensively, Stephen Lacey and Alan Berry each recovered fumbles and Dill had a team-high eight tackles.
Phil Campbell plays Phillips next Friday in its homecoming game at 7 p.m.
