Tharptown tops Mount Hope 20-6

MOUNT HOPE – The Tharptown Wildcats earned their fifth victory this season with a 20-6 win over Mount Hope.
The Wildcats previously beat Mount Hope 28-14 on Sept. 27.
Tyler Cagle found Trevor Hallmark for a 1-yard touchdown with 6:20 left in the first quarter, and then scored on a 1-yard keeper early in the second quarter to put Tharptown ahead 12-0.
Mount Hope tallied its lone score midway through the second quarter with a 5-yard rushing touchdown.
Hallmark, who recovered two fumbles on defense, scored again with two minutes left until halftime with a 1-yard touchdown. Cagle connected with Brandon Cothom for the 2-point conversion to put the Wildcats ahead 20-6.
Daniel Scott rushed for 93 yards and had an interception and a fumble recovery on defense. Cagle finished 4-of-6 passing with 50 yards and one touchdown and added 62 yards and a score on the ground.
Tharptown (5-2) will play Parkway Christian at home next Friday.
