Cattlemen invest in our local youth, local students

By Staff
This week, the Franklin County Cattlemen donated 100-pounds of beef to each of the city and county school's Consumer Science programs.
Most of us know Consumer Science by a different name – Home Economics.
Family and consumer sciences combines social science, including its emphasis on the well-being of families, individuals, and communities, and natural science with its emphasis on nutrition and textile science.
Home Economics is now a recognized subject area in Secondary education and has become a unisex subject, meaning that both boys and girls can choose to participate in it. It's a valuable class where students learn how to make a home function by using the bare necessities.
The Cattlemen's meat donation is just one small part of all the projects the Cattlemen and Cattlewomen do for our youth.
The Franklin County Cattlemen provide a scholarship to every school in the county, which is awarded to one graduating senior annually.
The county is a better place because of organizations like the Cattlemen. These groups see the need in providing tools for our future leaders to succeed.
