PHIL CAMPBELL – The Hatton Hornets picked up their first win this year with a 52-28 win at Phil Campbell Friday night.
The Bobcats (0-8, 0-6) led 20-7 midway through the second quarter, but two touchdown runs by Tevin Terrell in the last three minutes of the second quarter put Hatton (1-7, 1-5) ahead 21-20 at halftime.
Phil Campbell scored on a 16-yard run by Jonathon Dill and a 45-yard completion from Dill to Caleb Thompson in the first quarter. Dill tossed another touchdown pass with 8:22 remaining in the second quarter to Stephen Lacey, who also caught the 2-point conversion pass.
The Hornets reeled off four rushing touchdowns and a 30-yard field goal by Clint Proctor to put the game out of reach in the second half.
Dill connected with Lacey again for a 5-yard touchdown with 43 seconds left in the game, and Chase White caught the 2-point conversion for the final Bobcats points.
Hatton accumulated 438 rushing yards and Terrell finished with five rushing scores and 202 yards on 24 carries. The Hornets also came up with five takeaways, including four interceptions.
Phil Campbell was held to 83 rushing yards, but produced 255 yards through the air. Dill finished 19-of-43 passing with three touchdowns and a rushing score.
Lacey had eight receptions for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while leading receiver Caleb Thompson snagged eight passes for 129 yards and one score.
Seth Brown led the Phil Campbell defense with 14 tackles and teamed up with Jordan Taylor for a sack, and Nathan Rackard added eight tackles, including one for a loss.
Dill and Lacey each had seven tackles, and Lacey had one tackle for a loss.
Phil Campbell will host Winston County next Friday at 7 p.m.
