The Russellville Middle School chapter of the Family, Careers and Community Leaders of America announced the winners of the cookbook cover contest.
FCCLA advisor Lori Parker said that the students of her Family and Consumer Science class voted on the cover, and the participants in contest were the Art II students.
"We had some good covers to vote on," Parker said. "They all did a great job."
The first place winner and the designer of the class' cookbook is Kirstie Williams. Susan Garcia, Michael Franco, Brittany Wood, and Charity Terry all received honorable mentions in the contest.
The cookbooks are a fundraising project for the Family and Consumer Science classroom as well as the FCCLA club, Parker said.
"We collected recipes from students, faculty, family members, and from members of the community," Parker said.
Students pre-sold about 150 cookbooks, but Parker said that she would order extra to sell.
"I'll order between 200 and 250 cookbooks next week," Parker said.
She anticipates the books will arrive in mid-December, adding they would make great Christmas gifts.
Each book cost $10. For more information on purchasing a cookbook, contact Lori Parker at 331-2120 ext. 1521, or via email at lparker@rcs.k12.al.us.
