Several residents from Terrace Manor participated in the annual Golden Games held at Florence Christian Academy last week.
Activities Director Wendell Greenleaf said 11 residents participated in the event, with three of them receiving awards during the competition.
"The games had events such as bowling, golf, basketball, horseshoes, and relay races," Greenleaf said.
Bernice King came in third in the wheelchair race. Sarah Bush placed third in the golf competition. Hugh Edgar was given the Spirit Award at the game.
"There is only one Spirit Award given out each year," Greenleaf said. "It goes to the individual who shows the most spirit for their facility. We are honored to have this awarded to one of our residents."
The senior class at Florence Christian Academy has sponsored the event for more than a decade.
Getting prepared for such an adventure is no easy task. Greenleaf and five other Manor employees help him with the residents during the event.
"It's [attending such an event] a lot of work but it's very gratifying," Greenleaf said. "Each year I go, I get something much more from the experience."
