Vina falls at H'ville

HUBBERTVILLE – The Vina Red Devils couldn't overcome a 21-0 first half deficit Friday night as Hubbertville won 27-6.
Vina senior running back Nash Creekmore totaled 17 tackles and also had 52 yards rushing on nine carries, while senior tight end Randy Barnes had seven tackles and four receptions for 40 yards.
Sophomore quarterback Brent Townsend, who was 16-of-24 for 191 yards, found senior receiver Blake Thorn for the Red Devils' only score with little time left in the fourth quarter. Thorn, who also picked off a pass on defense, caught six passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.
