PHIL CAMPBELL – The holiday season is upon us and there is nothing like a home cooked meal, unless you are like millions of other Americans and have trouble coming up with new and inventive recipes.
If that's the case, the Phil Campbell Civitan Club can help by providing those in need of new dishes one of the club's cookbooks.
Cookbook chairman Martha Farmer said the recipes featured in the cookbook are from the club's members, as well as members of their community.
"We thought a cookbook would be a great fundraiser because a lot of people love them," Farmer said.
Farmer and the rest of the cookbook committee worked for several weeks collecting and sorting recipes and local businesses provided sponsorship for the cookbook.
"We were lucky to get great sponsors to help with the cookbook," Farmer said.
The cookbook sponsors are Reflections, The Cottage, Smoking Larry's, B &J Cafe, Chat-n-Chew, Mrs. D's, Mt. View Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Phil Campbell, Phil Campbell Drugs, and Swims Auto Service.
The cookbooks are $10 and are available from any Civitan Club member or at any of the sponsoring businesses.
"We have 300 copies of the cookbook in distribution to be sold," Farmer said. "We don't have a count of how many have been sold so far."
She added the books would make great holiday gifts for anyone.
"That's what I will do with my books," Farmer said. "I'll buy them and give them out at Christmas."
The proceeds from the cookbook sale will go fund the club's community service projects.
