Even though the Russellville Dream Center opened its doors less than two weeks ago, they have already begun reaching out to our community with two outreach programs.
Dream Center Director Shawn Reathford said their Alabama/Auburn tailgate party was wildly successful with 120 in attendance.
"We were packed full and we are very happy that so many responded to our invitation," Reathford said.
He added that the tailgate party will be an annual event for the center.
In addition to the tailgate party, the Center began an outreach for the community last Sunday at Eastside Apartments.
The Center brought hot dogs and hot soup to the community.
"About 40 people came and we feel like the more we do it, the more people will respond," Reathford said.
He added that one woman who came to the outreach attended their weekly service that night and gave her life to Christ.
The Center will return to Eastside at 1:30 p.m. every week to provide hot food and fellowship to those in need.
"We'll spend about an hour with the community just loving them and letting them know we are here," Reathford said.
The purpose of the outreaches, Reathford noted, is to do something positive for the community, which will hopefully lead others to clean up their lives.
"Those in the program tell about what's going on with them," he said. "They are talking about how they were on drugs and how their lives have changed because of God."
The Center is planning another outreach for Christmas on Dec. 8 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Faith Mission Outreach building.
"Matthew is letting us use his building for these events because we don't have the room here," Reathford said.
