Timothy Malone, a former Russellville resident and Vietnam veteran, was recognized and his family was honored at the Tennessee state meeting of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDOC).
The UDOC met recently for their 111th annual Tennessee state convention held at the Marriott in downtown Chattanooga.
Highlights of the convention included awarding crosses of military service to military personnel whose ancestors had served the Confederacy.
"The crosses are given to service men and women and posthumously presented to their families for service from World War I to the present war," Jo Hill, division president said. "One recipient, Timothy Malone, received his medal for Vietnam, one for his father, Fordie Malone, for World War II and one for his grandfather, Clay Kimbrough, for World War I."
