Avis Louise Baker, 91, of Russellville passed away Dec. 6 at Russellville Health Care.
Funeral services will be held today, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Hodges. Bro. Dan Hindman and Bro. Marty Guidry will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Line Cemetery.
She is survived by sons, Eddy Wade Baker and wife, Judy, of Russellville, Jerry Brent Baker and wife, Judy, of Rhode Island; granddaughters, Andrea Moats and husband, Mark, Mary Jane Turner and husband, Brian, Jill Pulfrey and husband, Alan, and Kim baker; grandsons, Kory Baker and Kris Baker; great granddaughters, McCartney Moats, Elizabeth Moats and Farris Turner and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil baker; parents, B.A. and Virgie McCleskey; three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Avis Baker was a lifelong faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Hodges. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
Dennis John Morris

Pastor Dennis John Morris, 63, of Milton, FL passed into the presence of his blessed Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on November 14, 2007 after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer.
Pastor Morris was born in Neenah, WI on July 27, 1944 to Jack Eugene Morris and Jessica Brokaw Morris. He graduated from Russellville High School in 1962 and from Bob Jones University, Greenville, SC in 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Aviation Electronics Technician second class.
He was saved in March 1963 under the preaching of Dr. Bob Lemmon at the Faxon Avenue Baptist Church, Memphis, TN and was called to preach while serving in the Navy in the Azores Islands. In August of 1974 he was called to pastor Trinity Baptist Church, Milton, FL where he served faithfully for 33 years.
Pastor Morris was preceded in death by his father, Jack Morris and his father-in-law, Allen Pegors.
He is survived by his wife of over 39 years, Judy A. Morris, who has been the love of his life, his faithful companion, and dearest friend. Throughout his entire ministry she has been his most faithful supporter and steadfast helpmeet, for whom he thanks God.
He is also survived by his mother, Jessica Morris of Springville, AL; three brothers, Jack (Dianne) of Belmont, NC, Norman (Sallye) of Germantown, TN, David (Virginia) of Durban, South Africa; three sisters, Theo (Stan) Coots, Tuscaloosa, AL, Becky (John) Johnson, Banner Elk, NC, and Jessica (Phil) McCullough, Springville, AL; and his mother-in-law, Doretta Pegors, Truman, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews and scores of spiritual children.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Program at Trinity Baptist Church, 5301 Highway 90, Milton, FL 32571.
Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Steve Athearn, Keith Bryan, Jack Lewis, Terrell Herrin, Jerry Smothers, and Bob Stearly. Honorary pall bearers will be Bill Ingraham, Ray Jones, Robert Keane, Arnold Moeller, Jesse D. Price, Jr. and Jesse D. Price, III.

Ray C. Chaney, 67, of Russellville, passed away Dec. 6.
Funeral services were held Dec. 8 at Tharptown Holiness Church with burial following in King Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Ann Chaney, of Russellville; sons, Anthony Ray Chaney, Roger Dale Chaney, Christopher Lynn Chaney, Matthew Kyle Chaney, all of Russellville; daughters, Susan Ann Chaney, Joanie Marie Chaney, all of Russellville; sister, Gertrude Borden and Elton, of Russellville; grandchildren, Brandon Anthony Chaney, Nathan Shane Chaney, Ashley Nicole Chaney, Tyler Donte Chaney, Jennifer Lyn Chaney, Savannah Dawn Chaney, Nickolas Dale Chaney, Destiny Starr Nicole Chaney, Dominic Shad Baker.
He was preceded in death by father, Alford Eddie Chaney; brothers, Grady Chaney, Charles Chaney, J.R. Chaney, Kenwen Chaney and sister, Mable Peoples.
