Aerial shots will benefit water department

Aerial images taken above Russellville today will allow the city's water and sewer board to benefit from the latest technology.
The department has been working to paint all manhole covers across the city white.
Digital images will be taken from high above the city today and used to locate the white markers indicating where all of the water and sewer system covers are located.
Russellville Water and Sewer Board Manager Doug Clement said the images will then be placed on a computer database.
"It will be a base map for us," Clement said.
"It will put every residence and service on a map so it will be on our computers."
Once the locations are entered into the system, water department employees will be able to pinpoint specific areas from the computer terminal.
Clement said the technology will be beneficial in the future.
"For the future, it's something you build to and grow to," he said.
