Grand jury upholds attempted murder charge
A Franklin County grand jury has upheld attempted murder charges filed against a Tuscaloosa man after a near fatal stabbing last month.
Marcus Jerome Wilson, 20, of Northport, was charged with attempted murder, first-degree robbery and first-degree assault in late December.
He is accused of cutting and stabbing a 21 year-old Russellville man several times in the late night hours of Dec. 7.
Wilson is alleged to have taken $20 from the victim.
Officials said the victim did not know Wilson. Reports indicate Wilson asked the victim for a ride to a house on Fillmore Street.
When they arrived at the house, Wilson is accused of getting out of the car, walking to the driver's side, pulling a knife and demanding money, officials said.
The victim was cut and stabbed more than a dozen times on the chest and back.
The victim, who lived on St. Claire Street, drove himself to the Franklin County Jail after the attack.
Authorities found him on the sidewalk and took him to Russellville Hospital.
Wilson was arrested about two weeks later in Fayette County after police were notified of his whereabouts.
He was placed in the county jail on a $300,000 bond.
