A Franklin County man was flown to a hospital in Tupelo, Miss., after sustaining life-threatening stab wounds Tuesday morning.
Officials with the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, the Marion County Sheriff's Department and Hackleburg Police arrived at the scene, located on Highway 43 South near the Franklin-Marion County Line, around noon Tuesday after the victim dialed 911 after being stabbed.
"The victim was stabbed multiple times in the main portion of his body," Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott.
"We received a call reporting a stabbing at this residence. The caller turned out to be the victim."
Plott said little information is known about the crime at this point. The victim told authorities that two white males came to his door and asked him to come outside with them. When the victim did, the stabbing occurred.
"We know there were two men, and they were driving a blue Monte Carlo," Plott said.
"Right now we are searching for some persons of interest at this time."
Plott said the persons responsible for the stabbing may have been acquaintances of the victim.
"There were two children at the residence when the stabbing occurred," Plott said. "They appear to be okay."
Plott said the victim appeared to be in stable condition at the time of transport. He was flown to a trauma center in Tupelo.
He added that the charges for those responsible will depend on the victim's condition.
Plott said officers with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation assisted with the processing of the crime scene.
