As the weather cools, it is finally beginning to feel like the time of year that I love so much.
Of course fall means football season and that is never a bad thing, especially for an Alabama fan this year.
But it also signals a time of festive spirits and holidays that we all enjoy.
The first "holiday" of the season is Halloween.
One of the things I remember about Halloween as a child, besides all the candy of course, was having my picture taken all dressed up.
My mom would always get photos of me and my brother all decked out in our costumes then we would go on to my grandmother's house and do the same.
But another photo op was always at The Franklin County Times.
We knew that in just a few days our pictures would be in the paper and there was something to look forward to, in addition to eating all of our candy for the next week.
Well, The Franklin County Times will continue that tradition again this year.
We will be taking Halloween photos from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30. We chose this date to coincide with church fall festivals and trunk or treats.
It will be more convenient and will allow everyone to do all of their dressing up on one night.
We will shoot the pictures that evening, then feature them in our paper on Sunday, Nov. 2.
We welcome all you ghosts, goblins, ballplayers and whatever else you choose to be, to come take part and keep this tradition alive.
