Basketball season is here

Now that the regular season for football has concluded, area schools are turning their attention to the basketball season.
Most schools have already begun the seasons for the seventh and eighth grade teams as well as freshman teams.
Belgreen, which does not have a football program, began its varsity season last night. The games against Covenant Christian ended too late to be included in today's edition of The Franklin County Times, but results are currently available on our Web site at www.fct.wpengine.com and will be published in the Friday edition of the paper.
The other area schools will take an extra week of practice so players who were on the school's football team can get caught up with the rest of their teammates. These schools begin their varsity season next week.
Tharptown will host Hackleburg Nov. 13. Phil Campbell will travel to Phillips Nov. 14 while Vina travels to Belgreen the same night.
The Red Bay and Russellville varsity girls will start their season Nov. 15 at Russellville. The varsity boys are not scheduled to begin playing until after the end of the football playoffs.
