Russellville senior volleyball player Cassie Montgomery made her college choice official Thursday afternoon when she signed a national letter of intent to become a member of the University of West Alabama volleyball team.
Montgomery played for Russellville for six seasons and was the team captain this year.
"She is versatile and would do whatever she could to help the team," Russellville coach Charlotte Dollar said. "She did a lot of things to make herself better like travel and club ball."
The hard work paid off as Montgomery has set six school records during her career.
Season records include most aces (81), most assists (704) and most digs (270). Career records include most aces (183), most assists (710) and most digs (562).
"I'm (proudest) of the aces in a career because I like to serve," Montgomery said.
She chose West Alabama because she feels the Gulf South Conference is a good conference to compete in and the current members of the team made her feel welcomed when she made her campus visit.
Montgomery also won a Wendy's High School Heisman Award this year.
